I'm a tad bit rusty on these boards, and i hate being the first one to test the waters... but i'm too excited waiting for life to come onto here again- so i'll kick it off (in hopes everyone else will follow suite). I'm Tara and I'm very excited to start a new season. I feel the older i get, the more writing becomes "something i used to do" instead of "something i'm passionate about". And that's not cool. When we all get together to do this it really inspires me to dedicate more time to writing. And i think it's just because we have such a cool group of cool people. I have missed you guys!

Hey Tara! Hello everyone. I'm glad this thing is only a week away. I'm ready to read some great work. For those who don't remember me or are new, I'm Cir (pronounced sir). I've been writing since jr high now, I co-host a podcast about story-telling, my daughter is 7.

Greetings! I've participated in A Right to Write several times in the past and although I never made it through I still enjoyed reading and sharing the poems and pieces. I write ever so often, though, I'm more of visual artist who enjoys comics, tea and bears.

Hi All,
I'm Zach Miller.
I completely agree with Tara's sentiment that writing feels like something slowly slipping out of the present's grasp. However, I'm not satisfied with that. After having not written anything since last year's A Right to Write, I finally, in the last month or so, started getting back into the Open Mic Night circuit. I find that without an audience, I have a hard time writing anything. Its like I need an opinion (usually one I project) to stack my words against - some tension to try to cut through. And while open mic nighters, with their guitars and cover songs, serve this purpose, it is a lot more focused with an audiance also strumming at the universe's heartstrings with ink and keystrokes, rather than fingertips and guitar picks.
I will be out of country for about two weeks near the beginning of this thing, with limited ability to get online or to a keyboard, so I might not be very active for weeks 2 and 3. But I will post if I can, and jump back in when I'm back in town.
Thanks to the Admins that got us up and rolling again! Let's write!

Hello I am Lisa,(tedeschi026)
I am excited to write this year ,other then my journal I don't write enough. For those that don't know me I am not a scholar but a lover of the written word. I love the fact that we are all such different people with different lives but come together for this journey. I am fascinated by the human mind and love seeing how everyone sees the same prompt and writes in a different direction. For those new to the group I have thick skin and love honest correction and feedback. Unless you are having a bad day and my post receives all the anger you have for road rage.
So Sit up straight, buckle in and get ready for a fun ride.

Oh, fellow ARTWers, I have missed you. I am Jami (pronounced Jay-Me). I am a 7th grade language arts teacher doing my best to devote myself to that craft AND have a life/interests/time to poop outside of school. Writing for me has always been a welcomed outulet. I get flustered when speaking and have a real need to use a keyboard. What's great about this group is the community, the accountability, and the accomplishment (I'm sure there are many more things, but three always feels like enough to list). I love having a stack of finished pieces at the end--what an incredible feeling! This season is unique for me in that my personal life is a bit messy. I'm not sure how my writing will be influenced. **Makes nervous face while looking off into the distance.** Also, I will be out of the country for a few weeks as well. My trip will be in July. (Paris and London with many children! Eeek!) Anyhow, I am excited to see where this time around takes us all! Welcome, new and old writers!
